D&D 5E Strength Clerics

We downgraded dex by using side initiative. It works wonders. I would not return to sequential initiative. We see a lot less dex based build but we still have them.

Most of our clerics are either war or life. We had a few light clerics and for the rest we had one of each over the years. But war and life are the most popular by far.

I had a tempest to 5th but that campaign ended. I am going to shoehorn an arcana cleric into the heavy cleric role.

despite the temptation of dwarves whom I love, think I am going variant human with heavy armor.

matter that I am torn. But if I am going to be a leg ripper, I probably ought to pump up strength optimal or not!

so I have this so far with feat: 16, 10, 14, 10, 16, 8.

I am torn about dropping dex to add point of con. Then I could do resilient and get a 16 but that’s a hard decision.

I am looking at wee Jas and am playing him as urchin with a temper. As in if people bring up his lowly beginnings he is touchy. Vet touchy.

hmmm...I guess my other thing is matching his personality and scores. I could make Him short and strong (tubby?) and go with an 8 dex. Maybe he has a little Napoleon complex going....

want to go nonevil (LN) and reserve the right to raise a few skeletons in a dungeon but need
To talk with other players a bit. I don’t want to cause friction with a LG Paladin or something!

If you do resilient (con) the benefits are better chance at succeeding at concentration checks and have more HP. The penalty to initiative is minimal because how rarely it's going to make a difference, same as the number of times the +1 to dex saves will make the difference between half damage or not.

Besides, while con saves are not quite as common as dex failing them can be just as bad or worse.

My first D&D 5e Character was a cleric. Paya was a human variant life cleric with rolled stats. 16 in Strength, 7 in dex, 12 in con, 10 in int, 16 in Wisdom and 18 in Charisma (she was a priestess of Sharess, so she need high Charisma).
As the Human Variant feat I took tavern brawler, so she could punch harder :).

AC was 19 with Splint amor and shield, additionally +2 trough shield of fate tompush it to 21 if the need arose.
Played lost mines of Phandelvar with her and it was fun and really not optimized.
