D&D 5E Swordmage! (+thread)

Oh yeah a “School of The Sidhe” or something would be awesome.

Get stuff like Mirror Image, create an Illusory duplicate that can make OAs, create terrain that can only be passed through by enemies if they see through the illusion, etc.
I like having the ground surge and buck under enemies and allow easy support by allies so they do not even fall while in it - but that is force / nature flavored effect I suppose.

I like that, too!

I’ve moved the elemental Aegis stuff to a subclass called the School of The Elemental Compass. At level 17 it can activate all 4 aegis and basically go into the avatar state.

In the base class, you now get Absorb Elements, a technique that lets you forgo the bonus damage from Absorb Elements for a chance to regain 1 Aether, and cast it without spending an Aether point prof mod per day, and a technique that lets you use your Intelligence to determine jump math and carry/lift/drag.

You wan't some vivid inspiration for Swordmages Guildwars 2 has some astounding stuff in particular I noticed the Mesmer class.
One interesting thing in general for the game is how your powers vary by the weapons you equip.

About Aether Weapons

They’re bound to you, can be summoned as a bonus action, and gain the thrown property, with a range of 20/60, and return to your hand when thrown.

Seems to me a basic move for the class might be, then, to try and hit a second target when throwing the weapon? As a bonus action?

I don’t want to restrict the class to one handed weapons, so should heavy weapons get soemthing instead of Thrown range?
Or can we throw glaives and not lose our minds?

Maybe glaives throw you....for extra mobility

I have a homebrew class that is meant to fill the role of the martial arcane half-caster in 5e. It's called the Arcknight, just to have a generic name that fits the theme, but is meant to be a swordmage/duskblade. There are subclasses of the same name in the class. Just wanted to share it in the case that you wanted to look at it for inspiration or any reason. Here's the link:

The humor was intended ;) but it is a legit maneuver idea too ... the use of a spear or pole arm as a vaulting tool is classic. In magic verse throw the spear and zip follow it teleport
Oh yeah, for sure I'm gonna include stuff like that.
