D&D 5E 20th level Sorcerer vs the world

"DM: Arthur you feel a cold grasp coming from your back and suddenly a thing strike you from behind."

you are UTTERLY wrong here.
Cannot be surprise doesn't allow you to feel, detect or see anything.
Not being surprised just allows you to use your action and reaction in the first round of combat, while others cannot.

Cannot be surprise means nothing.
You're really idiot or you do this on purpose?
If i come silent within your back and stab you with a dagger will you feel nothing because I'm hidden? Really guy come on!

On the contrary.

"Cannot be surprised" means you get to act when your Initiative comes up, in the first turn, and it means you can take reactions.

If you can act, you can do whatever, even if you might not know exactly what is going on.

It's ... clear as water.
Its. They never roll initiative against imperceptible creatures and imperceptible effects.
Because they arent involved in combat.

Cannot be Surprised is useful against CW

Dagger? The attack roll is a perceptible and you are no longer hidden.

It doesnt work against imperceptible spells.
Its The CW tactic.
Imperceptible spells.
Repeat
Imperceptible spells.

I agree. "Cannot be surprised" is shockingly useful. It's useful enough that it's given me no end of problems as a DM. Ambushes just don't work on them, overall.

Exactly. That's why the Rogue 1 killed the sorcerer without him even realizing he was being stabbed to death, as the rogue was hding again each time. That was the most yawn of the sorcerers death in this thread.

The party is walking through a dark room in a random dungeon
Hohige as a DM: Arthur you lose 17 hit points
Arthur: what the heck?
Hohige as a DM you feel nothing do as if you didn't lose hit points
Idiot players: you're right let's go on exploring this place
Hohige as a DM: wait arthur you lose another 17 hit points
Arthur:........

[bard and wizard both roll ballin' init]
Evil sorcerer: I cast...
Wizard: IDGAF I counterspell
Evil sorcerer: haahah i counterspell your counterspell
Bard: lmao wrong no way haha i counterspell YOUR counterspell
Barbarian: I rage. I may now act normally.
Rogue: literally nothing you do is normal
It's completely wrong.
He CW cast subtle spells and remain hidden.
Also, Subtle Counterspell can't be counterspelled.

Might need to be level 2, to have Cunning Action and Hide as a Bonus Action.

Still, I agree: Boring.

The CW is imperceptible and remain hidden while casting subtle spells. and rogue attack can't be with advantage, no sneaky attack :ROFLMAO:
