Sorry I dont know what you mean.

I do not believe High Fantasy = Magitech. I see those other Artificer subclasses as going in a direction I dont want/like for the world I have. No harm if you dig them, they work fine in Eberron or a similar magitech/steampunk like setting.

Red dragons aren't unique and they fit in fantasy fine.

I don't think the movie will have a Warforged protagonist or even a Warforged.

Main reason is CGI and that's gonna cost money. I could be completely wrong it just imho. Either way what we think here on ENworld is irrelevant.

Movie should probably have a dragon. Movie will very likely have cgi in it. Movie will likely disappoint in some way what's in it and not in it.

The Known World/Mystara, along with Greyhawk and Blackmoor, is one of the foundational settings of D&D. If we're going to discuss what is "D&D" (and the conversation you interjected yourself into was), Mystara is very much it.

Krynns tech gnomes are a small part of the world.

Um, no. Tinker gnomes, as much as I loathe them, were featured in the original modules, novels, and setting book and were a part of the creation story and the Greygem.

And they're also specific settings so they're opt in.

So are Greyhawk and the Forgotten Realms. Irrelevant.

In both cases the generic level is ye olde renaissance faire.

Personally I don't mind it myself I bought and enjoy Eberron. But I wouldnt include those aspects on a D&D movie.

The line of conversation you've joined is about what "stretches D&D into new genre territory". And it really doesn't. Magictech is old hat, pulp is old hat—the only thing vaguely newish to D&D is the noire vibe of some of its aspects (which a potential Eberron-based movie wouldn't even have to lean into). And even that's not stretching things into "new genre territory" as it's still fantasy action and adventure. Like I said, the odds of the movie being set anywhere other than the Forgotten Realms or, possibly, Dragonlance are slight at best. That said, Eberron is not this radical departure from "normal D&D" (unless you mean by being more interesting that the Forgotten Realms) and it's certainly no departure from popular fantasy since, at least, the 90s.

What you would include isn't the line of discussion that you inserted yourself into. If you're going to join a conversation, please try to keep up

ThevD&D movie isn't really for us though not is it arguing about what is D&D.

It's going to be made to appeal to the masses. Mystara doesn't have mass appeal anymore.

It's probably generic or FR. It's not going to be set on Mystara it's probably not going to be Eberron. It won't be Darksun or Planescape.

It won't be a MtG setting. It probably won't have a Warforged protagonist or any other race that requires heavy CGI.

That's all imho if they do any of that I'll freely admit I'm wrong.
