The video below from Nerd Immersion delves into the races in more detail.

The battlemaster is a very poor substitute for the warlord. You could make a warlord which would still be effective even if they never swung their weapon. You try doing that with the battlemaster and you're a useless dead weight. You're far better off just attacking.
You can move people around, and all that jazz. It's not the same, but 5E isn't the same game.

There were already Forgotten Realms Goblinoids, Eberron Goblinoids, Exandria Goblinoids, Ravnica Goblinoids, etc, etc.
Those are all setting-specific versions. Both this book and the MM are meant to be generic.

It’s clear they are in the process of changing generic goblinoids to give them a fey connection. We can see that in the new playable race but now we have to wait two years to see what they do with the core monster version.

This fits and starts stuff is what’s annoying. I don’t want a preview of something that’s not coming out for another two years!

The thing about the Warlord is that its most martial focused builds could potentially be compared to the most support focused battlemasters. So if that was what you liked it still works.

But the most support focused warlords absolutely cannot be replicated in 5e at all.

Well, they might address it sooner, depending on their product schedule. Too soon to say.
