Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

D&D Direct, WotC's new video-format announcement show launches today at 9am PDT (5pm BST). If you aren't able to watch it, I'll be updating this article live. Feel free to comment below! • MMO Neverwinter video. Dragonslayer begins June 2022. (I wonder if they'll need a dragonance for that?)
• New D&D actual play video, Legends of the Multiverse. Lots of 80s cartoon style soft rock music. Boo is in it.

Goodness, I can't stop looking at how beautiful the Alt cover set is for Spelljammers: Adventures in Space. Such a strong Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden alt cover feel to it.

Better keep a close eye on GameNerdz for the pre-order section to have it.

3 64 page books is a bit light, but for $70 in the current inflationary climate not bad. I'll buy it.

“An asteroid spider is a menace native to Wildspace and the Astral Sea.”

So wildspace and the astral sea are separate things.

“An asteroid spider has its own gravity plane and air envelope, as well as multiple spinnerets with which it can create web strands.”

Gravity planes and air envelopes are in.

The word phlogiston doesn’t appear in the new MC. Nor does crystal sphere.

I honestly think their plan is to scrap the crystal sphere idea and have Wildspace be like, maybe a Sub-region of the astral.

While I’m not 100% okay with this change, it kinda DOES remove the old concern of “why don’t groundlings know about Spelljammer culture and why don’t spacers just dominate the groundling trade market?” if the ships rarely interact with prime worlds outside of the occasional dimension hopping nautolid incursions.

Yeah but that would have been $30-$35 on a $50 hardcover, $40 at most. This won’t dip below $45.

That’s still cheaper than $70 and still cheaper than the MSRP on a single book release. I dunno what to tell you there. Stuff has gotten more expensive.

Considering that one of the books is Astral Adventurer's Guide and another is Boo's Astral Menagerie, that seems like a pretty safe bet!

192 pages unnecessarily split into three books for $20 more than normal and 192 pages was a bad deal at $30.

I'd rather just have a book. Preferably with more than 192 pages. For $20 less. Sell the DMs screen separately if you must

Well, I am sure everyone would really rather have more, and for absotlutely FREE! But dude, inflation is a thing.

When you break it down into $$ per person per hour of entertainment, it seems pretty reasonable.
