But this playtest as humans in it (to pick an example I remember OTTOMH). Humans are in the 2014 PHB, so they are not a new option. They are changed.
The PHB already had two Human versions, standard and variant. And these new Raves are mathematically transparent with the old, so they will play nice next to each other.

Do you really believe that the new human is intended to be played alongside the two old ones? I guess we'll see which of us is right.

DnDNext had plenty of promising playtest material. Then WotC got scared that martial dice, sorcerer etc looked like fun and got rid of them.

So I expect they will whiplash hard towards just reprinting slightly cleaned-up 5e when even one survey says 'this reminds me of 4e'.

And it was all folly. The major consequences of the Edition Wars was to permanently scar discussion here and elsewhere, to force WotC to abandon good ideas simply because those good ideas came from 4e... and it almost led to the cancellation of the game entire

I left enworld 2 different times in the last 8 years because I felt too much edition waring. To this day the number of threads that turn into 4e bashing drives me nuts

I doubt they want 2014 races sitting next to 2024 ones... the fact that the stat bonuses have been moved alone shows that.
We've had OneD&D Races playing with 2024 Raves since 2020. All publications since Tasha's use the new design ethos (though again, the math is transparent). The floating ASI is not mathematically different from the 2014 approach, and whether it occurs at Race or Background doesn't matter in play. The Backgroujdnsection has a sidebar that allows for using any 5E Rave with the OneD&D rules. That's probably going to be in the PHB, to facilitate painless conversion.

i have a worse feeling... just look at the threads here. We will have people who have not playtested any of the material telling people who did how wrong they are... and the last I checked the survey on how many did to didn't is MORE then 2-1 Didn't... so right now enworld users have more voices weighing in that didn't even try the thing, and enough of them to drown out those that did

my faith in this playtest is low
