D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

A brand new trailer for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie has just been released! The movie comes out March 31st. This trailer very much highlights the tongue-in-cheek nature of the movie and is filled with one-liners. The trailer also gives us a good luck at the Red Wizards of Thay, along with the mimic, the owlbear, and other iconic D&D monsters.

Legend
Bard has clearly updated from an earlier edition and the player and DM are arguing over what to use for an escape artist check, the fighter just gets on with things.

DM: It's not really Acrobatics, as you aren't doing whole body physical stuff, nor Sleight of Hand as you aren't stealing or concealing something. Make a straight Dexterity check

Bard rolls a 3.

Fighter: "So hit him on the foot with the rock, Extra Attack to smash it into his face. Then Action Surge, throw the rock at the far guard, move to close the distance then because of my Tavern Brawler feat lets me get a grapple as bonus action using a superiority die for Trip Attack (extra d8 damage), use the Extra Attack to hit them again while I have them pinned."

Bard: How about perform my nimble fingers must give me some advantage.

DM: Yeah nice try. No, besides you said you were just rubbing them against the edge of the well worn prison steps. Tempted to make it a Strength check now.

Bard: No, no straight Dexterity fine. I'm rubbing really fast.

Bard rolls a 2.

Fighter:
So the one I have grappled takes 1d4, finishes the off? DM Nods Great. I leap at the other one still standing, unarmed attack, hits? DM Nods So I'll Trip Attack again, hitting him into the floor as my Extra Attack and Grapple as a bonus.

Bard rolls a 4.

Bard IC: "There are probably sharper stairs somewhere else."

DM: You know the guard she took out in the first round was about to chop her head off with an axe, a very sharp axe.

Very cool. It seems like this movie will finally be a D&D movie that actually integrates the lore, rather than just tossing in a few throwaway lines (Wrath of the Dragon Queen), or feeling like someone's really bad homebrew (the first movie).

Re: Forgotten Realms lore

That floating Red Wizard is apparently who everyone thinks he must be, according to Polygon.

I've watched Book of Vile Darkness, but my memory of it is vague and hazy. Probably as a defense mechanism.

It is truly spectacular. I especially liked the bit where our hero takes a vow of chastity, just like his father and grandfather before him.

No, seriously.
