Nine for mortal men, doomed to die...
never heard of it can you explain it?I like OD&D's and B/X's L-N-C alignment system. But I'm starting to really like the 1976 Strategic Review and Holmes 5 point alignment.
LG-CG-N-CE-LEnever heard of it can you explain it?
i think the grid of nine + unaligned work plenty well, they describe a character's general mindset, what they value in the world and are inclined to use but are not a straightjacket of their actions.
Well, not to uncleanse your palate, but I do feel it's worth mentioning that the 5e formulation of alignment (and hence the broad concept) was officially added to the creative commons today, which is kind of a big deal in terms of everyone being able to (with unambiguous legal protection) publish their own damned version of alignments.
I'll see myself out.
Are we? Alignment seems to be largely irrelevant in 5th edition. You can be a paladin of any alignment and spells like Detect Good/Evil don't work the same way they did in previous editions. DO monks still have to be lawful even? I like alignment, but haven't bothered with even asking my players about it in regards to their characters.I would be okay if a future version of D&D didn't have it but it's expected so we're stuck with alignment or so it seems
