I know that sounds silly, but it is a real thing. This community and the desire to continue to be a part of it has, in the past, kept me playing D&D when I otherwise would have abandoned it. I suppose it is a symptom of a kind of personality disorder that I feel like I NEED that level of interaction, but here we are.

Anyway, just feelinga little melancholy. Feel free to use this thread to discuss your favorite kind of gnome bard.

Yeah. I was just talking about this with my wife. Getting on the PF2e Reddit isn't the same as the relationships I've forged on here over 20-ish years. It's really an emotional breakup.

There are some great Discords out there—especially ones associated with podcasts—where folks talk about all kinds of RPGs that aren't D&D. I'm in one where Savage Worlds comes up a whole lot!

In order-

1. There is exactly one type of good bard. A DEAD ONE.

2. Think of the upside .... less time talking 'bout the game, more time playin' the game!

3. Based on what I've seen, lack of playing D&D, lack of familiarity with D&D, and lack of familiarity with RPGs in general does not, in any way, prohibit you from commenting on enworld.

4. Finally, think of this as a great opportunity to get to the bottom of burning questions that we all need answered ... you know, like What would a 19 Year Old Junior Duchess who has had a 26 Year old Half-Cousin of non-Noble Birth do if Her Three Large Baronies Did Not Provide for Her Husband's Heirs?

I've said it, before, I'll say it, again:
Level Up. A5e.
Talk to your table about swapping to a different, new, version of D&D and take that step. You'll still be able to benefit from the big D&D community to a large degree, but it won't exactly -be- D&D, so your conscience can be soothed.

Not entirely true. Reddit, Discord, and other forums. There are reddits and discord channels for everything. This forum is almost absurdly dedicated to D&D and only D&D. Other RPG forums exist and they have much bigger not-D&D sections and interaction. One that comes to mind is RPG.net, but there are others.

I don’t think so. I mainly play 2E but still have lively chats here.

My point was, D&D is D&D. Telling about how you slew a troll in Pathfinder is just as relevant as if slain in 5E
