In a very good sign, Tuesday BO for D&D was up 33% from Monday to $3.6M ($43.6M total in 5 days). Will be fascinating to see how it does against Mario opening today.

Weekend will matter more.

Mario's tracking towards stupid numbers. If it comes in somewhat close to that it's gonna eat D&Ds lunch.

I was concerned that the Super Mario movie might eat D&D's launch when it comes out (today), but given the reviews its getting, and that it's even more child-oriented/merchandise-sales-focused than I had expected, I'm a bit less concerned about that. That should help D&D a bit over the coming weeks.
I think it'll handily win the box office this week and then probably drop off a cliff in the second week and be a steady performer for parents looking to take their kids to a movie for weeks after that. Kids' movies have to be truly terrible to leave theaters quickly, and the Mario name will keep this one around longer than most.

A lot of adults will probably wait to see it on video, though, especially after hearing their friends telling them to do so.

You are going to have to shut down movie theaters nationwide for Mario to not destroy every other movie at the box office this weekend.

Yup I don't see Mario doing as well internationally. That's relative though it should do well.

Even with weekday number though I don't think HAT will make its budget this week and I'm thinking a 40% drop off is best case scenario expecting even more due to Mario.

It'll be interesting to see if Honor Among Thieves is the top 2 against Mario and Wick tailing off.
From Friday to Tuesday it was the number 1. If it drops to 3 that may mean there's too much crossover in the market.
If it stays at #2 that should indicate a longer tail.
