D&D (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

The weapons table from the upcoming Unearthed Arcana playtest for One D&D has made its way onto the internet via Indestructoboy on Twitter, and reveals some new mechanics. The mastery traits include Nick, Slow, Puncture, Flex, Cleave, Topple, Graze, and Push. These traits are accessible by the warrior classes.

Wizards and druids exist in the game. Monks exist in the game. The idea that D&D has to be the game you play to ramp up your skills for the My Little Pony RPG is defied by the majority of magical classes.

I dint think so. Or don’t agree. The number one issue for any RPG is getting DMs, then getting players.
You are getting away from what was being discussed though. Stripped of contrext I don't even know how to respond.

With the statement "I agree with your last bit. Things for a diverse fan base, I think, can look like a “beer and pretzels game” but I think it’s nature allowed it to be different things for more people." was the context...

Given the context... what "different things"?
OSR games are flush with DMs, I believe because most of them are on the simpler end of the scale, both in rules and content.

5e doesn’t have enough DMs as it is.
That partially self inflicted wound is not entirely without cause. Here is a great summary of a few big ones

I’ve been in that debate and I think those ideas are far removed from the real problem with not enough DMs.

People are intimidated by DMing. Flat out. Every other problem is vanishingly small compared to it.

The tsunami of players are relatively new and their share of folks comfortable with DMing is smaller than general. That’s a huge group of new players and not enough DMs.

Did I miss it? what "different things"? Please elaborate

Watch the video?

People have a lot of theories why 5e needs more DMs so badly. From personal desires elevated to some unwarranted universal rule.

To good ideas that problay only effect a fraction of folks.

The Super Mario games have been geared towards casuals and beginners for decades and they are stronger than ever. Do not underestimate the power of simple when seeking a hobby.
Beating Mario is beginner mode.

100% is experienced mode.

Nintendo created artificial difficulty mode to attract multiple types of gamers. That's my point. The 5e leaned hard on casual play and assumed veteran DMs would "fix it" for experienced players with "ruling over rules".
