I've noticed that in my line of work, and in these forums, the bad actors are the ones who have trouble saying "I don't know" and/or "I was wrong."
I have noticed that if you admit to being wrong certain people will take the time to hammer you for being wrong, rather than graciously accepting their victory in debate.

Often people will have painted themselves into such a corner that any admission of error becomes untenable. If one is wrong about x, then suddenly y and z are in question. So instead just keep hammering away at the same points until you’re the last one standing.

Look. Growing old is uncomfortable and change is scary, okay? Stop calling it an Edition War!
