I also suspect you overestimate the effect that posters here have on the playtest process. The main source of data is the massive surveys they put out which gather volumes of data orders of magnitude larger than 1, 10 or even 100 posters here can generate.

Because of the recently released videos. I can be wrong. But they are recently responding to feedback in videos before the survey has closed or so shortly thereafter that they can't have looked through the feedback. So what are they responding to if not forums and twitter?

Of course every opinion is valid. But I don't have to like those opinions or the effect it has on me.

Having run similar surveys in the past, you can see the data as it comes in and once it reaches a certain statistical relevance it doesn’t really change as more people respond. The percentages get set fairly early in the process and they might shift a tiny bit but they aren’t going to suddenly change drastically (outside a deliberate campaign, which would invalidate the whole thing anyway). That’s just not how survey statistics work.

They want survey feed back but make no mistake they are listen to general attitudes (maybe not having someone here) they know when people are unhappy before the survey results are in BUT they won’t know how many or how much is echo chamber makeing few voices louder.

My thought process is this:

Who cares? The new edition will be what it will be. Some will adopt it. Some will not. This constant quibbling over minutiae is not healthy, or useful.

It is the worst excesses of nerd culture (I am technically right) and adds nothing to the discussion of the rule updates.

Part of that probably stems from the start of the playtest where they were doing more interesting, stronger changes than they seem to be doing now. Like, some of the stuff there did feel more drastic compared to what it feels like we are going to get, and that sort of feeling probably carries through a lot of that.

Maybe, but I think people are over-estimating how much the big changes are going to be undone. So far the only thing they’ve said is being walked back is uniform subclass progression, and maybe Wild Shape to some extent. There’s no reason yet to assume that the weapon mastery system, or the changes to species, backgrounds, feats, spells, or the rules glossary are going away.

This is nothing. Just wait til WotC announces they're shifting D&D to a midichlorian-based spellcasting system.

I actually think putting out half backed systems like that so we can all mess around with it and make it better is great. My fear is this 70% approval or scrap will take great ideas that need work and throw them away.
