Restraining myself so badly from commenting.

I just can't believe the gall.

Can you imagine if Comcast was crowdfunding an ad for their product?

There are more than a couple posters who I believe have effectively weaponized bad communication as a form of rhetoric. For better or worse, these people can sometimes hide for years behind ENWorld's civility policies.
First of all, I take exception at the phrase "weaponized" -- I assure you, I really am that terrible at communicating when it's not over a GM screen at a game session.

Second, I have hidden for decades behind ENWorld's civility policies, with only the occasional warning, so I'm counting it as a win...

You too huh?

I get too caught up in my own bull puckey (no autocorrect you can bugger off) sometimes. I actually do appreciate the odd tap on the shoulder (or occasionally a slap upside the head) from the mods.

The fact that you can read that post should be the first clue that I'm not taking about you 😛. And FWIW, even if you can't read this, the complaint doesn't necessarily mean you either. People can be ignored for a variety of reasons.

I fully support ENWorld's policies. The moderation around here is among the best on the internet. The rules are there to protect people who are actually bad at communicating, and they do a good job of that. And I'd rather be part of a forum filled with well intentioned folks with poor social skills than a bunch of mean people who learned to play by the rules.

But as a group that plays RPGs, we should recognize that whenever a rule is made, someone is going to try and find a way to use the rule to their advantage. It happens here, too. I don't think there's any way to completely stop it.

As someone who has worked in Silicon Valley for a decade, it befuddled me that ao many people are eager to have some Tech Bros blow smoke right up their tailpipe about their latest scam.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose...

The notion of reviving victims of drowning accidents with tobacco smoke enemas seems, to say the least, a little odd. But to 18th-century physicians, this approach was entirely rational. The mainstay of treating the “apparently dead” was warmth and stimulation. Rubbing the skin was one method of stimulation, but injecting tobacco smoke into the rectum was generally thought more powerful. Since its introduction from the New World by Sir Walter Raleigh (1552–1618), tobacco has had a place in the pharmacopoeia for its warming and stimulating properties. It was useful in counteracting cold and lethargy, either in an individual's constitution, or brought on by particular afflictions.

I guess the promise of majicking free money from the vacuum of some techbro's brain space is even more stimulating than tobacco smoke.

Also to be clear, IANAL.
Because that seems appropriate for some reason.
