D&D (2024) Lawful, Chaotic, and Neutral touched species.

Do you want a Lawful, Chaotic, and/or Neutral touched species.

Would the 3e Dragonborn be more like the planetouched then? curious Unlike the 4e and 5e versions of the Dragonborn, this version could be applied to any species that agreed to serve Bahamut during the Dragonfall War.
I'm not very familiar with those ones, but looking at their lore I guess so. Similar to how a tiefling or aasimar could maybe happen via a pact.

Unaligned is also for intelligent and aware beings who aren’t concerned with cosmic struggles. So, primal spirits are mostly unaligned, as are just the vast majority of mortals.

Yeah thats the thing. To me, the Alignments are essentially factions. "Good" is a cosmic force, above Gods. Unaligned would just be someone not interested in that cosmic struggle.

Just as not everyone is involved in the Blood War, or whatever.

I never liked the “cosmic force above the gods” idea, but otherwise yeah, agreed.

as for my own interpretation of what Lawful and Chaotic mean is that Lawful individuals ultimately value some form of structure of rules, procedure or tenents as their chosen method of pursuing their goals (be they good, evil or otherwise) and typically putting them above their own desires if they ultimately come into conflict, and Chaotic as valuing personal freedom, liberties and agency to act as they wish while in pursuit of their goals.

Alignment is dumb and should die a horrible death

Creatures from the planes are fine but dont need to have alignment based sproglets in play. Elemental energy infusion is way cooler including radiant and necrotic energies :)

I’d argue all Humanoids from the prime material plane default to Neutral.

I also found it really hard justifying planetouched derived from Rilmani, and in fact the Dragon Magazine article for the Skills & Powers take on Planetouched just bothered to group the Rilmani bloodline into Aasimar.

So for anything outside of Fiends, Celestials, Elementals, Law and Chaos, I came up with a single catch-all miscellaneous planetouched type to cover the Astral, Ethereal, Feywild and Shadowfell.

Unpopular opinion, but it's just based on a poor understanding of what neutrality means and overly narrow approaches to what alignment describes.

If it were true that being balanced between two options was significantly different than being passive to those two options, then we would need to distinguish between Neutral Good and Unaligned Good. The fact that they only did so with respect to True Neutrality suggests that they think that a True Nuetral Druid believes that Nature is somehow missing the point or that he himself is not properly in tune with nature.
There is no Unaligned Good.

Being unaligned means you have no alignment at all because you are hands-off the cosmic conflict.
