I've met so many extreme MTG addicts that I am seriously made to wonder if the two guys from New York, who stole the $300K in cards, didn't do it to sell them.
There was a strip mall game shop here in Twin Cities that got robbed one evening. The robber broke in from the empty next door shop. Managed to clear out the inventory room and not trip any alarms. I believe authorities suspect a former employee. The take was around 150K mostly in cards. Folks definitely into them for the money.

It's not a discussion if, before you've even opened your mouth, you've already decided you're right no matter what anyone else says.

I used to be into Magic. But I switched to cocaine, because it was cheaper and more societally acceptable.

After you have stated your position clearly, not once, not twice, but three or more times... and the other side still disagree, why do you (both of you) keep going and going and going?
Because repetition makes truth? At least there are more than enough people, even in the TV news business, who think so.

There isn't any field of knowledge that there isn't a geek here on ENWorld who will get extremely exercised about it and be openly offended that you don't have a PhD in whatever their personal obsession might be.
