Guardinals are NG - from Elysium.

CG would have been Eladrin, but they've been pretty thoroughly eaten by the Feywild, so honestly, who knows what the CG "exemplars" of Arborea are these days.
In Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, all Elves are fallen Arboran Celestiala, including Feywild Eladrin. We might get something on that in this Set.

Eh, if both guardinals and archons are in the set, then that's not going to leave much room for the old celestial eladrin in the bestiary, considering what else we already know is going in there.
They might go for the thing in 3e where they only bothered to have Avoral and Leonal for Guardinals and Bralani and Ghaele for Eladrin, in the Monster Manual (unless the 2024 MM pulls that off instead). And didn't even cover the other types until the Book of Exalted Deeds came around.

Well, there aren't that many archons and guardinals (only 6 - 7 each), so they'll fit in the bestiary with no problem. It would just be annoying to have some of them appear here with no guarantee that there will be a future planar product for the rest to appear.

Unless, like you said, they're going to put some in the 2024 MM (as there was a distinct lack of celestials in the 2014 version), and we're seeing the leftovers (pre-leftovers?) here...

Getting a hang of this!
If you grow up with this life cycle - being born this way, yourself - and spend your life within your own species who never question their basic biology - then really, how are you evil? For you, this is the way of life and you have never seen anything else. Plus, Red and Blue Slaadi are not supremely intelligent, nor can they cast spells. The Green and higher level ones actually do not reproduce at all, so to them this isn't something they need to deal with (in most respect they are really considered a different species than Reds and Blues).
Compare this to say, ritualistic/etc cannibalism or straight up eating sapient species. The Lizardfolk eat both their own people's corpses, as well as fallen foes. The Thri-Kreen, when they are starving, will go out and hunt Humans or Elves. Neither species is considered evil, despite that. (I think Thri-Kreen are Chaotic Neutral, like Slaadi).

But I assume the description of Limbo and what you can find there was NOT in any previous core book , no? So unless you bought Planes of Chaos, you would not think to make an adventure there. I do not recall basic 2E AD&D doing a Manual of the Planes, only 1E AD&D had that. For 2E this was AFAIk the first time it was described in detail.

That and the Sigil/Outlands gazetteer are my main interest too. So far, from product listing and artwork, we know around 50 monsters are in this book. These are the ones mentioned or seen:
-Hierarch Modrons (no idea if all 10 types including Primus, or just a few, the Decaton is definitely in there as we have art of it on the cover)
-Planar Incarnates (Incarnate - Complete Compendium)
-Time Dragons
-Gehreleths / Demodands (all 3 types, Farastu, Kelubar, Shator)
-Bariaur
-Dabus
-Sunfly (Sunfly - Complete Compendium)
-Nic'Epona (Nic'Epona - Complete Compendium)
-Parai (Parai - Complete Compendium)
-Eater of Knowledge (Eater of Knowledge - Complete Compendium)
-Some sort of unindentified robot-like construct, possibly an Inevitable
-Some sort of anthropomorph mouse, possibly a Musteval Guardinal (Musteval) (Still dunno why they called a mouse-like Guardinal a Musteval, when Mustelidae is the family of weasels, stoats, ferrets, etc... Should have been called Rodental or Mureal. :p)

Wait, Cthulhu crew? I thought most of those lovecraftian gods did not exist in D&D. Even though they are in public domain (and Paizo uses them a lot due to this).

Actually, the artist confirmed it on Twitter and even shared the artwork.

Do you mind if I ask where you heard this about the Nic'Epona? I'd love to see them make an appearance!

Is it, though? We are getting 50+ star blocks.
Assuming (and it is an assumption, although I expect it) that all the various groups do have all their traditional members get stat blocks, that's 9 - 10 for hierarch modrons, 3 for demodands, and 6 - 7 each for archons and guardinals. That's half the stat blocks there.

Granted, that still leaves room for all the other creatures we've seen, but not much room for anything beyond that. And, honestly, I'd be fine with this, as I do want to see everything in the above paragraph updated. It would just be a bit surprising considering previous bestiaries to have only a few groups monopolize such a high percentage of the stat blocks.

It's also probable we will have stat blocks for various factions' most typical guards or members, too.
So yeah, I am not expecting more than maybe 2-3 Archons and Guardinals. Most likely other than the Warden we will get the Lantern and Hound Archons.

Well, based on that interview, they plan to basically continue in 2024 with all these settings. Given that apparently there will be around 500 monsters in the new Monster Manual, there is plenty of space for new creatures like those.
And I really hope the whole "weaker/stronger versions of monsters for every CR level" maybe results in us finally getting all three types of Devas as opposed to just one.

Do you mind if I ask where you heard this about the Nic'Epona? I'd love to see them make an appearance!
They showed a page of the adventure at GenCon, and you can see a bunch of colorful orange and green Horses running under the walking castle. I am guessing those have to be the Nic'Epona since the 2E ones had those colors too. Plus they are a creature innately suited to be used for planar travel and they live on the Outlands.

Tell me about it -still annoyed that between the Monster Manual and Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, we have gotten all the Yugoloths updated to 5E (even the Oinoloth now became a generic member of the race as opposed to a unique being), but we still do not have art or stat block for the Piscoloths. It's lucky that Pathfinder did get a "Venom Daemon" miniature produced so we do have the Piscoloth in some form as a mini, at least.

This means a new book for, say, Ravenloft could explore a different aspect of the gothic horror world that draw from different inspirations, rather than having to reintroduce the setting from scratch.
Despite my general like for Van Richten's (sans Mordenheim), this almost sounds like an apology for it not cleaving closely to the 2E Domains of Dread, and possibly going back to make it closer. Despite a 4.8 of 5 review on Amazon, it's selling at $16.50 - which has got to be a loss.

Or, maybe I'm being overly cynical these days.
