No, that would be another fallacy.

Popularity or lack thereof has zero bearing on something’s quality or lack thereof.
I don't think I'd go that far; quality can certainly be a factor in popularity, and in a broad sense, probably sets a floor on quality (i.e. there's only so bad a really popular thing can be from the perspective of the general market unless the market is completely closed).

What it doesn't do is give you a strong indicator in either direction; there are too many other factors in play.

Note I said "from the perspective of the general market" and "unless the market is completely closed". If the general marketplace hates it and there's anything else, they'll go to something else no matter what other virtues it has. So there's a practical floor (which can include a lot of people actively disliking it).
