Remember when we thought the worst thing a software company could do was bundle an internet browser into their OS? I sure am glad we nipped that problem in the bud so no one would ever bundle up software like that again. It was a very important legal precedent.

I've assumed that this was the case for me. I was at PAX East in Boston and barhopping with my buddy the same weekend of the Biogen conference that was one of the early super-spreader events. I suppose I could have avoided it then, but it seems super unlikely that I've avoided it entirely since. One of the epidemiologists I worked with at the time told a colleague that it was exceedingly likely that everyone would catch it before things were "over," and I've operated from that assumption since.

Yeah when Covid first dropped I had that thought, but my goal was to be super careful until we had vaccines and the lethality had come down a couple big notches. I came down with it last summer (just about when I would otherwise have gotten a booster!) and was sniffly and a bit achy for a week, that was about it. I'm fully up to date on the vaccines now but am watching the numbers out there again.

It is sad and frustrating knowing that, if "They" had been just a little less greedy over the last 40 or 50 years, the world today could have been a pretty decent place for a lot more people.
