It is sad and frustrating knowing that, if "They" had been just a little less greedy over the last 40 or 50 years, the world today could have been a pretty decent place for a lot more people.

Yeah there's reasons I pretty much don't look at crowdfunded projects any more. There are exceptions to be sure but I'm done sifting and investigating to suss out the difference. As a famous horse once said, "Everything happens so much."

I think it is more Reagan, Eisenhower threaten to break up GM when Knudsen said American should serve big business or whatever. It was Coolidge's unfettered love of big business than brought on the Great Depression, even American Heritage says that. Commerce needs regulation.

There is no appeal to empathy you can make to convince someone who doesn't believe in empathy that empathy is a good idea.

If you thought that Mean Girls played it too safe and conservatively, Bottoms will make you laugh like crazy. It gets surreal by the end, but it's really, really funny.

I really wish that people would stop conflating empathy with respect. It is in no way paradoxical or self-contradictory to say that I have no respect for your ideas/beliefs and will expound at length on their complete lack of merit, but still believe strongly in your personhood and that you have a right to exist without being subjected to fear, harassment, or discrimination.
