I encountered someone today that literally had trouble processing the idea that you don't need a road to go somewhere - she experienced major cognitive dissonance brought on by the idea that you can just walk wherever you want to, and that some places can only be reached by walking... "But... how do we get there if there's no road?"
What's more, I discovered that, just in general, she actually feels acute anxiety when she can't see something that's obviously man-made.
I weep for the future of humanity.
Here on the New England coast, "slightly windy" conditions have been known to carry off pets and small children...
We get all four seasons here - "cold and wet", "wet and windy", "dry and hot", and "cold and windy".

As someone who lived in Michigan for 7 years and California for 46, California has rarely even seen a storm.These atmospheric rivers have nothing on a powerful storm from the Midwest or East Coast.
