I encountered someone today that literally had trouble processing the idea that you don't need a road to go somewhere - she experienced major cognitive dissonance brought on by the idea that you can just walk wherever you want to, and that some places can only be reached by walking... "But... how do we get there if there's no road?"
What's more, I discovered that, just in general, she actually feels acute anxiety when she can't see something that's obviously man-made.

I weep for the future of humanity.

As someone who lived in Michigan for 7 years and California for 46, California has rarely even seen a storm. ;) These atmospheric rivers have nothing on a powerful storm from the Midwest or East Coast.

Here on the New England coast, "slightly windy" conditions have been known to carry off pets and small children...

We get all four seasons here - "cold and wet", "wet and windy", "dry and hot", and "cold and windy".

The Thai place near where I work had a scale with points marked as "Hot" and "Thai Hot."
I learned how to say "very very hot" in Thai so I could get dishes spicy enough, and even then I sometimes have to ask for the tray of chili sauce/powder. Then again, one time at a restaurant in Thailand, the server told me they didn't eat food as hot as I was doing.

As for Cholula, I prefer its thicker texture and its flavor to runny & super-vinegary sauces like Tabasco or Tapatio, but I wouldn't call it a "hot" sauce. The chipotle Cholula is way tastier than the basic, too.

It's weird how you consistently disagree with me while simultaneously proving my point. I mean, keep on keeping on, but it's still weird.

Having lived in Japan and Korea for many years, I can honestly say that you folks, outside of maybe the Vancouver folks, have no idea what rain is. :D
We usually don't get much of what you'd consider rain, brief intense summer downpours that don't add to much and maybe fringes of a hurricane or two in some years. But I was here in South Carolina in October 1-4, 2015 for our 1,000 year rain storm. We got about 14" (355mm of rain) where I'm at in the middle of the state. A few places in the state were around 25".

You can keep it! (And I have no desire to experience what a 1,000 year event would be in a normally wet place!!)
