WotC New D&D survey from WotC as part of the 50th anniversary year.

Heh, sorta like the militant wing.
They have a very peculiar history, much of it pretty bad (hence the Pinkertons being stock villains in Wild West media), much of it more neutral to even commendable (when Abraham Lincoln was traveling to Washinton by train, his personal security was headed by the original Mr. Pinkerton himself, and it was a necessary precaution guven what went down during and around that train ride, weird story).

Not a nice organization that hires nice people, hence how things went down fairly grossly. But the end result was still, "WotC gives YouTuber free stuff"

I personally wouldnt see this as a consolation. The ugliness doesnt go away because of a gift basket.

I assume Pinkerton has a clear sense of what they can get with, legally speaking. I assume a lawsuit is difficult. But when harassing the family, I doubt the legal threats that Pinkerton made were entirely honest.

It was not purchased legally, it was procured through a leak in the the distribution chain. WotC Jason a legal right to pursue infor.stion I'm thst, and to demand the cards back. They seemed to want to have avoided suing the guy to do so, bit they could have gone that route instead, which I would see as way more damaging.
He purchased from a legal business that gets product from a legitimate distributor and received the wrong boxes. (That are worth less than what he paid for). How is that illicit?

Preferable to going to trial. And while I am sure the Pinkerton agent painted a bit of a picture, truth was the dude wouldn't have much legal ground upon which to stand.

It used to be a joke, that WotC would send the "game police" to ones door. Turns out to be goons?
A lot of snark over the years has been in the form of "You still have your books, WotC isn't sending ninjas to take them away." I'd rather it be ninjas instead of thugs...

There was a leak somewhere along the chain: I don't think he was doing something morally wrong having the stuff or even leakimg it (leaking should be done carefully, if done), but publishing that he had on his own YouTube channel is inviting attention, and WotC has every right to pursue their property.
It wasn't free, it was equivalent value to what he paid.
Still nicer than having to hire a lawyer and go to court.
