One of the reasons I dislike the "I didn't comment thread" is it is so ripe for that kind of misunderstanding. I don't think it helps with people getting along on the forum

Yeah, I think people forgot that the point of that thread was to not make a negative comment at all, and replace it in the "i didn't comment" thread with a different fun comment to defuse one's own irritation. It wasn't really supposed to be a place to just mutter something under your breath, pineapple or no.

Two things I think would really help the Internet are (1) if things on the Internet had starting posts that described what the goal was, and (2) our AI overlords didn't force us to go read the things we hated!! (3) Good beer.

I tried to send good beer over the internet, but apparently the tubez aren't wide enough for the beer.

They need to make the tubez bigger, or use a better protocol (BTP, Beer Transfer Protocol) .... or get better trucks for the tubez.

... Now I need yet another thread, where I can say mean things about J.Quondam behind their back, without making it clear that: a) they're mean things, b) they're about J.Quondam, and c) I don't know, something about backs, it looks weird when it's just two things.

Yes, but in the "I didn't comment" thread, pineapple on pizza was being used as a code for things the moderators didn't want us to talk about. And the fact that the code wasn't used very well and there was too much understanding made the mods feel the old thread wasn't helping people get along on the forum. Thus that thread was shut down and we're now here.

The issue though is most of us had no idea that was going on. Pineapple pizza on its own, leads to pretty high spirited discussion. So i think most of us were just weighing in with sincere or hyperbolic views on that topic, slipping in another topic means there is a whole conversation peopel aren't aware of and is going to lead to confusion because posters who just think they are saying they hate pinnapple or like it, might be perceived to hold opinions on other issues they don't hold (and at this point I still am unclear on what Pineapple Pizza was code for)

There are two very good things in life: pizza and pineapple. Individually they are wonderful on their own. Occasionally they come together and compliment each other. The pineapple pizza is a wonder of the world because it can cure hunger and low potassium in just a few bites

The problem isn't that the pineapple is on the pizza. The problem is that the pineapple is warm.
