D&D 5E Let's pitch fun new class ideas [+]

For some reason when I read this, my brain combined the first two. A character that summons dead monsters for companionship. I don't know why.
A necro-summoner might be a better way to handle a necromancer who's focused on a specific creature that's always available, while leaving "a swarm of skeletons" as more of a control spell.

But I can see them as two separate classes just as easily.

Warblade updated to 5e. With full 9 levels of maneuvers and stances. Use warlock invocations as a base for stances.

Martial adaptability: instead of classic fighting style, you can switch it to any FS on a list with the use of bonus action.

No archetype needed.
When I was dreaming up a "maneuvers for all warriors" variant, I used stances as the answer to concentration spells. You spend a die to enter a stance, and get a small static bonus for as long as you remain in the stance - ie Greatweapon Stance lets you reroll ones on damage dice as long as you remain in the stance. A stance last to the end of the fight (say, a minute),until you enter a new stance (only one at a time), or until you get knocked unconscious. Only one at a time to limit shenanigans.

But I still had fighting styles (that got better over time) for half-martials like paladins, who didn't get maneuvers as a base feature.

The Paragon- The Warrior who becomes the Pinnacle of their species, gaining more power in their racial strengths and powers.
i have no idea how you'd implement that without essentially making a unique class for every single species in the game, so while it's definitely a cool idea, it's probably one of the most impractical yet.

EDIT: actually, given the topic, i'm not sure what i just said is really relevant, but i'll leave it here anyway.

More like you create common traits that species can link of. Basically linking them to creature and monster types.

The way my current drafts is

  • Paragon
    • Adroit Genius
    • Inner Beast
    • Dragon Incarnate
    • Demigod
    • Elemental Warrior
    • Fey Knight
    • High Noble
    • Stone Hammer
    • Walking Rampage
    • Warfiend
So A Dwarf could be a Stone Hammer as a walking being of stone or a High Noble be the respected aristocratic axedwarf.

A Monster class, where you take on the traits of a certain types or category of creature.

In a similar vein, a Symbiote class where you meld with a parasitic creature that changes your physiology and grants you strange powers.
The mind flayer colony will gladly accept your application.

Intelligent Weapon
You are an intelligent weapon, and you have a companion that equips you.

Combat is mostly your ability, and you can strengthen your companion. You may also provide some magical abilities.

Your companion does social activities (conversation, etc.), but you can give telepathic advice. Your companion and you have separate knowledge skills.

It is assumed that not just anyone can become your companion. In this case, if your companion dies and is not revived, you will "die" just like a normal class character. Whether a new companion will find you and equip you will depend on the story.

In this case, it may not be much different from creating a "fighter who owns an intelligent weapon at level 1" and doing a special roleplay.

It would be more noticeable if you could easily change companions. In this case, you may need to set up some kind of "death of intelligent weapons".

I thought adding the magic-user which uses all the spells would be fun, subclasses (as in those I made) were based sort of on magic the gathering:
  • White mage (priest, healer)
  • Druid/shaman
  • Elementalism - skilled with battle magic
  • Black mage (conjurer, cultists, necromancer)
  • Wizard - skilled ritualist
  • Illusionist
Your subclass makes you better with certain spell types, it also makes you lose certain spell types. A black mage is terrible with healing magic, can't cast them, but they can heal themselves with vampiric touch.

I'm maybe a little boring, I like adding classes from other media like the WoW shaman, death knight, or demon hunter; or classes from guild wars. I'm also one of those that like the idea of a psion or swordmage type class.
