Much better than last episode.

Pros: fight choreography, Sith reveal was logical, if totally Scooby-Doo.

Cons: art direction, most of the characters I like are now dead.

Is Star Wars YA? I saw the original movie in a theater at age 8. Yes, always.

I think because a lot of books being written in that space are garbage these days.

I do not consider YA anything other than a marketing ploy to convince young people to read etc.

The review bombing is a bit disgusting, but sadly not at all surprising.

I haven't watched the show - honestly, I think the KotOR game was the last time I was interested in SW - but I have been paying attention to the toxic sh*tstorm that certain internet vultures have been leaning into, and the "anti-woke" dog-whistles (more like foghorns) that they've been sounding.

Regardless of the merits of the show, or the lack thereof - as I said, I haven't watched it - the most depressing thing to me is people cynically stirring up controversy, generating clicks, and making a fast buck off of other people's outrage. The Russel Brand business model, so to speak.

As a general principle, I think it's probably a good idea to ignore all 1-star and 5-star reviews, and think in terms of 2* (bad) 3* (ok) and 4* (good). IME, very few human creative endeavors either sink to the level of irredeemable drek or rise to the lofty heights of transcendental art.

Yeah I don't think the Young Adult category really applies to a movie like Star Wars (which was definitely meant to appeal to broad age ranges). The main characters are all pretty all adults or entering into adulthood.

Yes. The show doesn't state it, it expects the audience to make the connection themselves. No handholding.

I didn't make the connection, "...in order to avoid a massacre." The connection I drew was, "...we have more important things to do than to risk lives in an avoidable fight."
