And look it how it has ruined this man. Attention span? Gone! Activity levels? Diminished considerably! The number of great novels read this year? Zero! And all he has for consolation, after the scrolling phone has taken everything he loves, is inferior post 90s media! When the depression sets in, when he realizes this hell is worthy of Dante and reaches out to connect with others, he finds he has scrolled so often he lacks the basic interpersonal skills to connect with his fellow man!

According to clickbait, devices that blow air at water will chill your room instantly, way faster than air conditioning. Spoiler, nothing is better than air conditioning, but, blowing mist at your face, also great.

That may work in some climates, but it sure won't cut the summer humidity - which our central air conditioning does.

True, but AFAIK they work well in dry climates. Which means that there are large parts of the US where they aren't very effective.

Despite being nicknamed swamp coolers, they aren't great for swamps.

That seems to be just total sum of deaths per year in the US across the entire population.

From age 1 to at least age 29 (and probably higher, but the statistics are a little messy), the most likely cause of death in the US is a traffic accident.

The number of traffic fatalities was generally in the low to mid 30K range for most of the 2010s, but has crept up into the low 40K range ever since the pandemic started. No idea what the cause is, but something changed. It seems to be slowly abating as of 2023, which is a good sign.

People absolutely became worse drivers after the lock downs. The increase in general anxiety doesn't seem to have helped.

Purely anecdotal, but I noticed that as well. But I live in NJ, so interesting driving is just par for the course.
