I don't think people really care to hear my tale ..but I'm one of their kong time customers and I think it's worth telling.
I immediately loved 5e. I thought it was the best combination of ease of play versus crunch....when it came out.
Over time I her dissatisfied with the lack of additional crunch in the system. I felt there was room for more complexity to be added, especially in optional content.
But, culminating with the psionics end result, I realized that the system was never going to expand to fit my ideas of where it could/should.
I stopped being a consumer quite a few years ago. When rumblings of a new edition surfaced I was excited.
But from the first playtest I realized it's just rearranging the deck chairs in the same cruise ship.
I'm no longer playing 5e, or D&D fir that matter. My hobby time has switched to boardgaming as it better matches my desires for engagement with a system.
5.5? will be the first "edition" I don't purchase....since the early 80s. Notneven to just see what's new....I can do that here for free.
