But they are all accessible these days. There's pizza delivery services, like DriveThruPizza. Many of the smaller pizza purveyors will be happy to send you their pizza if you go to their site and order it.

Now, there may be an issue in finding a group of people who enjoy your personal preferences in pizza. Locating enough anchovy-lovers can be difficult. But, again, that's a people problem, not a pizza problem.

TDTESS is a sci-fi classic and I love it, but as a piece of cinematic art it falls a bit short. Especially the middle section. The whole bit with Klaatu trying to hide out at a boarding house just drags along, and the "all electricity stops" thing is weak in a number of ways. Great opening and ending, though.

Forbidden Planet is great. I'm surprised we haven't seen a remake yet.

Part of why "Forbidden Planet" is so great, is the '50s SciFi aesthetic. I don't think that a remake would come anywhere near to being as good. I'm sure there are a few directors who would try; generally the ones who have overweening opinions of themselves and their own work. The remake of TDTESS was just a flat mess, with none of the charm the original had.

Really. If you ignored/left the pineapple discussions, they wouldn't notice. They would continue to chatter on about pineapple without you.

I wish this was true, but I've seen more than one discussion around how people didnt appreciate the pizza offered, and when expressed that 'hey, all they told me was that it was all about that great pineapple' people who are not interested in pineapple were blasted for not giving it a chance.

Now, I'm not saying those people are in the right to do so, or that anyone should care, but they did it.

If someone wants my dollar, pineapple is not the way to get there, is all I'm saying.

The information age is wonderful. You can find almost anything you want, if you look for it.

Ultimately, this is a situation we all have to deal with - the world does not stay static. Change is right up there with death and taxes. There really is nothing for it but to adapt in whatever way makes sense for you.

That’s fine if you don’t prefer it, but you gotta give up the complaints that folks won’t eat lutefisk pizza in your local sewer with you.

I dunno, I think its still at least semi-legit if you consider the gaming experience to only be worthwhile (or practical) FTF to be grumpy when you can't find a face to face game of what you want. Its kind of similar to the people who only enjoy movies at the theater; being told they can watch them streaming isn't much consolation.

Absolutely love the '50s sci-fi vibe. Wonderful stuff. The Flash movie from the '80s captured some of that vibe but was intentionally tongue-in-cheek camp.

Curiosity: One thing that seems to bother people is the "Trans-Atlantic Accent" that so many actors used at the time. Is that one of the things that puts you off?

Naw, that sort of thing doesn't bother me, and I'm generically very fond of 50's SF movies. I'm not sure I could pin down what leaves me cold about that one. There's a couple other well-thought-of (and I understand why) movies of the period I'm the same with (Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the Incredible Shrinking Man come to mind).

Though its great, its kind of stuffed full of some dated elements. Most remakes of SF movies from that period are less lodged in their time. (On the other hand, trying to do a remake of "Them!" would have all kinds of problems...)
