Would you pay the extra price for 200 reprinted pages from the old one though?
Would you like to flip through such a big book?

Edit: I flipped through my digital copy now. And I find a lot of the old DMG rules and advice and optional rules in the book. Now at a place where it makes sense and better explained.
How did you get access? I pre-order, but I don't seem to have access. Do I need to wait until the 17th because I didn't get the digital + physcial bundle (just the digital)

Cool, cool. Then by that logic certainly this whole DMG is an utter waste of time, and just detriment for this glorious Oberoni learning process! People can just figure this on their own, no need to pay WotC for advice or rules and miss all this wondrous learning by mistake.
Yes of course... because logically the opposite of "no variant rules" is "no rules at all whatsoever". That makes absolutely perfect sense! Wonderful rebuttal!

But too bad for you... because WotC has decided to split the difference between "No DMG" and "No variant rules in a DMG" with the less-logically sound (by your estimation)... "the DMG". Hopefully you'll be able to live in this world that makes less sense.

That's a weak argument. Sorry, but if they need those rules, they will easily be able to get ahold of them. Heck, you don't need the books. They can be explained in a few sentences! But the books will be available. There are MILLIONS of them.

Greyhawk is used as an EXAMPLE of what you get when you set out to BUILD A SETTING. It's AFTER the chapter on how to make your own, as a "You might wind up with something that looks like this" kind of way. It's only 30ish pages, and it does the job it set out to do.

Give people 64 extra pages and a cheaper price and they still feel owed something more.

Yea, there really is! And a lot of them are not tagged as specifically optional or variant, or in a single spot. They are introduced where they might be useful to see upon reading. Let the index work after.
IMO, makes them mote likely to be used, motes than being stuck in an ignorable "Variant Rules" chapter
