Thanks to the fact that WotC releases the 3 core books with such long time intervals, I still wasn't able to make up my mind about it. I've read the free rules online, I've watched a couple podcasts, talked to my gaming groups about it, but without the Monster Manual I still don't know what the new balance is, if there is even a change to it and without an adventure I don't know what type of game (grim, heroic, super hero etc.) they will try to emulate.

What about you?

I voted Yes and I like it, as I like the class changes and some of the spell changes, but I also do not see much of a difference to the 2014 version. It is more clearly and cleanly laid out but the 2014 DMG has more in it. Now, much of that is written is a style that is difficult to get through and scattered about the place in little nuggets here and there.
I think that there is plenty of room for third parties to do blogs and video essays turning the bare bones in the DMG into more detailed breakdowns and how to's.

I think the next adventures will be no different than the most recent ones. Nothing has changed as far as running adventures goes and the tiers are exactly the same.

I'm looking forward to the Monster Manual the most of the 3 books . We can see a change in design in the brown bear from the PHB. Less damage than 2014 but automatic prone condition on hit.

More than that, I'm expecting them to make running monsters more clear with clear suggestions of attack patterns. As well as replacing the combat spells with abilities so the DM doesn't need to look up the spells during combat.

I voted Yes and I don't see much of a difference to 2014. I liked some of the changes that were done to the species, classes and gear, and I do like that the PHB is more clearly and cleaned laid out. But I have to admit Level Up's Adventurer's Guide appeals to me more than the 2024 PHB does. ☺️

Beyond reading a few threads here, I don't know that much yet. I haven't learned enough to make a call. What I see so far is kinda mixed, but also small enough to not really care that much.

There's just no rush for me. I'm assuming new books will arrive in my household with Xmas. I've got two active 5e campaigns that won't get any benefit from a rules upgrade; if they get crossed over, it will be at a convenient downtime. And I really don't feel the need to touch the new edition at all before the MM comes out. I'm happy to wait and form my opinion later.

Re: what balance there is, what type of game they're trying to emulate? It's still 5e. They're still going to be high fantasy powerful heroes.

I like the Bastion rules, which surprised me. It's because they provide tables and procedures for Domain management, random stuff, etc .. turns out I missed that stuff, and afaik the other stronghold supplements I have don't provide that.
