Yup. There is no way that the 5.5 MM is going to be better for my interests than Level Up's Monstrous Menagerie (sequel coming to Kickstarter soon). And there are plenty of other amazing monster books outside of the 5e ruleset I'd put in a similar position.
I'd be perfectly happy with a 500 page book of just new monster art, and maybe a handful of mechanics. I can stat that stuff myself, but finding pictures for inspiration is a grind. Third party books are great for that, but I'll take the 2024 MM as well.

Just a clarification, while I agree, it is a 384 page book just like the other 2 core books but with over 500 monsters which is where you would have gotten that number.

Still, I think they promised more artwork than previous books? And I bet I'm really going to like the style.

Noted. I honestly have no idea where I pulled 500 pages from, but I appreciate the benefit of the doubt there.

Well, I'm playing 5E with Xanathar's, Tasha's, Fizbain's, etc. So I'm not really seeing any surprises or major, "must have" differences at the moment.

Previous MM was 352 so we're not getting as many more pages as we did in the PHB and DMG but still 32 more.

I wonder if it will have more stuff in there with tables and advice and lore and such or just more space for monsters. I'm not sure how many monsters could be trimmed from the MM. As I recall they were pretty much all fantasy/D&D staples.

I personally think complete ignorance is a poor basis for forming opinions, but hey, you do you.
Am I supposed to think that the 5.5 MM is so much better than the 5.0 MM (which I like, but less than the A5E book) that I can't possibly make a decision without a full reading? Monster math isn't really the highest priority for me.

You can do what you want, of course.
I just go by the old saying, never judge a book by its Kuo-Toa. 😉
