Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

A little update on my Cleirc for tonight’s game.

This is a dire boar made for WotC's Chainmail game from around 2002. I've had this thing for more than twenty years and only just painted it. My goal with this one was to work with more natural colors that you might actually see on a real animal and try my hand at some more wet blending. For the snout, I used a tanned flesh color and wet blended it with the same brown I used for the fur. I followed that up with a nice wash made from Sand Golem speedpaint with a highlight of tanned flesh at the end of the snout. This turned out far better than the abominable bear I painted a few years back. It was just a regular black bear, but the paint job was abominable.

If you don't have grass tufts on your base did you even base your miniature?

In other news Miniac stopped by our FLGS with a free mini for everyone who showed up. I thought I’d get a mech but ended up with a Dune Sardukar which was a disaster. Apparently I can only paint vehicles and mechs and people are out of my wheel house…
