D&D (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

Just looked at the new helmed horror ... not only did they get rid of the helmed horror's resistance to nonmagical, non-adamantine attacks, they also got rid of its immunity to force damage! Was that really necessary?! Force was already one of the least resisted damage type in the game, and now it's even more so!

EDIT: They gave it 7 extra hit points (one extra hit die) to make up for it. 🙄

On the flip side, I really like the new invisible stalker. It's now Large instead of Medium, though it has fewer hit points overall, and it's more like a nastier air elemental, complete with a Vortex attack that prevents spellcasters from casting spells with a verbal component!

I've picked up the 2024 MM today from my games distributor, for sale tomorrow at my comic and game store.

But we're closed today, so I've got some time to answer questions!

If you have any burning questions, ask away!

(And others with the MM can feel free to help me answer. I like help!)
Has the XP by Challenge Rating chart changed at all?

The FLGS I ordered from, that wasn't sold out on the alt cover, must've participated in the early book release program cuz guess what came in the mail today!! Wasn't expecting this today that's for sure.

Flipping thru, I've noticed that almost every kind of ranged attack, that is "magical" or would be typed as "ranged magical attack" in previous books, is specifically avoiding labeling them as such.

I guess they realized some people, like me, would be toxic enough to make the argument that they can be dispelled by Counter Spell.

Also, I like the fact they are 4eing the blocks by having variants. Sure they take up space, but it's still neat. The Humanoid stat blocks seem cool enough.

Overall, this book is pretty awesome.

What is the description of the lich's new name changed phylactery?
"Spirit jars are typically small, well-made objects that were meaningful to a lich in life."

There is a table that you can roll on for example spirit jars that includes a bottle or puzzle box, the first magic item that the lich created, a rune-etched egg, etc.
