I went and googled up other 00 Agents who have appeared in canon sources (Books, Movies)

002 Bill Fairbanks – Mentioned in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974); assassinated by Francisco Scaramanga in Beirut.
Aidan Flemmings – Appears in No Time to Die (2021); killed at MI6 headquarters.

003 Unnamed, Found dead in A View to a Kill (1985) in Siberia.

004 Killed in The Living Daylights (1987) during a training mission, pushed off a cliff.

005 Briefly mentioned in The World Is Not Enough (1999).

006 Alec TrevelyanGoldenEye (1995); betrays MI6 and becomes the villain.

008 Mentioned in Goldfinger (1964) and The Living Daylights (1987) as the backup/replacement if Bond were to fail or be removed.

009 Assassinated in Octopussy (1983) while dressed as a clown.
Another 009 appears in Spectre (2015), who gets a new Aston Martin that Bond later steals.

Some unnumbered 00 agents also appear in Thunderball (1965) and The World Is Not Enough (1999).

She didn't play James Bond, though. Daniel Craig played James Bond. She played another agent who took his job when he left. It's not really the same conversation.

Agreed, but I was responding to this about the “mantle” of 007.

Even if this contrary to how Flemming wrote the character or its portrayal in the films, I always kind of looked at "007" as more of a mantle than an actual singular character.

No 001?

Just not mentioned (yet). For all we know there might be a 0010, 0011, and 0047.
Which looks strange, but only because they seem like decimal numbers, when that's not at all what they are. You're right, who knows how many there are? I think it's not supposed to be many. Also: Is there a Double-oh-OH?
