Doctor Who goes full on meta. That was tons of fun. Nice bit of social commentary. The chemistry between the Doctor and Belinda Chandra is really spot on. It's so nice to see an "unwilling" companion. Granted, she seems pretty on board with things by the end of the episode, but, it does feel very natural and genuine.

"You're Scooby Doo!"
"Babes, I'm Thelma"

I giggled. A lot. And the whole "It's a haunted theater with a creepy old guy" thing too. Nice.

I never notieced until Mrs. Flood said it that the end of the series (and apparently the end of the entire run since they're talking full on reboot for the next outing) will be May 24th. Makes the whole thing so deliciously meta.

Actually, episode 7 will be on the 24th. Episode 8 will be on the 31st, world-ending events aside.

I am really liking Belinda. We've had companions like Donna who challenge the Doctor before, but one that literally doesn't want to be there and just wants to go home is a fun take. I'm enjoying it.

Interesting episode. Mainly a cast of three in one set, with added Alan Cummings voice work. I guess the money went on the set, CGI, and Cummings!

There need to be episodes with smaller stakes.

If every episode has a world-ending threat, planetary dictatorship, etc. then it stops being meaningful.

On one hand, I absolutely agree with this idea. My ideal Who has much more small, contained stories.

OTOH, this criticism applies to huge portions of the reboot. Which has been going with the constant apocalypse style for around 20 years ago now. At a certain point you just have to accept that this is the style of the show.
