Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I’ve been invited to a white-people tacos event and I am conflicted.
Thinking about this some more…

Inexpensive & easy things you could bring to expand the group’s horizons would include:

1) pico de gallo
2) different cheese
3) different salsas
4) different greens & veggies, like shredded cabbage* or radish slices
5) fresh tortillas

Going upscale and pricier, you could bring different main fillings, like braised pork shoulder, chopped/sliced chorizo, or sautéed mushrooms.

If you want to blow minds, bring something traditionally associated with another cuisine. Here in the D/FW Metroplex, I’ve seen a fluctuating but generally increasing number of Mexican/Indian fusion places- and it’s a goooood mix! Up until recently, I thought that was just a reflection of the diversity of D/FW’s growing diversity. But it turns out there’s a fairly large number of Indian immigrants living in Mexico.

* for some reason, “cannabis” popped up on the suggested words from my AutoCorrect. The Internet being what it is, I’m sure that people are now making assumptions about me that would easily be refuted in person, but it is what it is.🤷🏾‍♂️

Indian/Mexican is increasingly available in my corner of SoCal as well. It's one of those combos that seems really obvious in retrospect that I never would have thought of on my own.
“Two houses, alike in dignity…”

There was a place right around the corner from me I drove past for YEARS- Taco Naan- that always had a full parking lot. I eventually tried them and was blown away. Unfortunately they failed because of a road construction project that took WAAAAY too long for them to weather.

But while they were around, I was able to get things like barbacoa with naan, Chicken 65 street tacos and any other fusion you could think of. You want guacamole? They had it. A spicy green chutney? Yep. Want refried beans with your tandoori chicken? Yes, sir!

Indian and Mexican fusion sounds like a match made in heaven. The similarities in the cuisines just make it sound perfect.

I have a vague memory of reading an article about that particular combo being common in parts of California because of early 20th century immigration and miscegenation laws, but I don't remember where. All I know is they're not in the parts near me, which is a shame, because it's what I'd like for dinner now.

Edit: right after I ordered dinner I remembered that there is a Mexican/Indian fusion place near me, that has won best burrito in California from a few places, and I like it. I am gonna enjoy my sandwich less now.
