(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Fair enough. Urgan stays w/ Team Kobold.

Yup -- saw those, and the follow-up that it cohered with information we already mostly have. Happy for other views. If Urgan's going through the caves, then the most valuable questions woudl be about the statues, which I think these guys are unlikely to know.
The main cultist might know about the statues. But he may be the most resistant to the spell

Information that would help us bluff our way past the tower and through the gate would be valuable. Like, who mans the tower and the gate, cultists or mercenaries, and who are they expecting to return with the caravan and how many?

We defeated three cultists and two mercenaries, so we might need to explain why we're fewer than five people, assuming more than two go to the caves, but maybe not.

Maybe they have a password that opens the gate?

We can ask that -- sure -- I just don't see why any of the dead (especially cultists!) would tell us what we want to know.

Leveled up; took Keen Mind as a feat, as planned.

New one-liner:
Urgan AC15(12) HP 26/26 HD 4/4 PP11 dkv SSdc14 3/4 3/3 AdrR 2/2

(is it okay if we keep the level 1 spell always at -1, to indicate he has cast Mage Armor 1/day? if you'd like me to say it in character, happy to do so instead.).

I say we find out information that will make it easier for the infiltration group to just hang out among the cultists and sneak around in plain sight.

1. What is your name
2. Who is your contact for the delivery
3. What is the name of the leader at black mountain
4. ?
5. ?

Maybe questions about the Dracolich or a time
beside their numbers,
and pass phrases, what should I ask?"

I think we should focus on bypassing the tower and the gate, ask questions closer to the mission. I wouldn't ask #3, I agree with pass phrases. We could keep score if we know how many there are, but not sure the use of that?

Looking back, it was actually seven enemies defeated by Team Ambush: four mercenaries (two human, one dwarf, and one orc), two cultists, and the driver. Just an observation this mirrors our exact numbers and party racial composition (for the most part and not including Corrah), in case it's important that we resemble the original caravan as we pass the tower/approach the gate.

Perhaps: Ask the driver.

1. What last request can we fulfill for you?
(offer the dead something. If they cuss us out (as I expect the cultist would), then the rest is moot in any case. If they have a request, that gives us nominal leverage.)

2. What is the password at the gate?

3. How many are inside?

4. Have you seen the statues the cultists use?

5. Where are they kept?

(I realize 4 and 5 are inefficient, but it makes a more natural flow in my mind.)

Anyways -- please offer refinements if you wish. Happy to all go at bandits inside, despite our earlier plan (which I think was made and agonized over because many of us didn't want to go in the water.).

I think getting names of one or more of the caravan people would be useful. Or the name of the person we are supposed to drop the supplies to. So we don’t have to guess.

Watch tower:
“Who goes there?”

Us:
It is “name”. Tell “so and so” we have the supplies.

I like the idea of the questioner dressing up like a fellow cultist
