I see piercer feat only really working with Rapier+vex and elven accuracy crit fishing.
maybe even better if Dragonlance if available as generic material, take Squire of Solamnia as background feat:
Your training in the ways of the Knights of Solamnia grants you these benefits:
Squire of Solamnia is not a good feat, Piercer is not a good feat, expanded crit is also not that great feature, Elven accuracy is by itself OK feat, but:
when you combine limited advantage on demand+improved advantaage+expanded crit+Vex+extra damage on crit it raises bunch of C and B tier feats to A+.
it's still a boring class to play, but it works, and it works from level 6.
at level 7 get archery style so you can use all of it with a shortbow as a secondary role.
and ofc at 13th level, this build gives you perma-advantage(+) for every attack. with 27% crit chance.
That gets expanded to 38,5% chance at 15th level.

Your training in the ways of the Knights of Solamnia grants you these benefits:
- Mount Up. Mounting or dismounting costs you only 5 feet of movement.
- Precise Strike. Once per turn, when you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can cause the attack roll to have advantage. If the attack hits, you roll a d8 and add the number rolled as a bonus to the attack's damage roll. You can use this benefit a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, but a use is expended only if the attack hits. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
