D&D 5E (2024) Practical Build #1. Champion Fighter.

I see piercer feat only really working with Rapier+vex and elven accuracy crit fishing.
maybe even better if Dragonlance if available as generic material, take Squire of Solamnia as background feat:

Your training in the ways of the Knights of Solamnia grants you these benefits:
  • Mount Up. Mounting or dismounting costs you only 5 feet of movement.
  • Precise Strike. Once per turn, when you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can cause the attack roll to have advantage. If the attack hits, you roll a d8 and add the number rolled as a bonus to the attack's damage roll. You can use this benefit a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, but a use is expended only if the attack hits. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
at 6th level with Elven accuracy and Piercer, you can do really good damage with Action surge.

Squire of Solamnia is not a good feat, Piercer is not a good feat, expanded crit is also not that great feature, Elven accuracy is by itself OK feat, but:

when you combine limited advantage on demand+improved advantaage+expanded crit+Vex+extra damage on crit it raises bunch of C and B tier feats to A+.

it's still a boring class to play, but it works, and it works from level 6.

at level 7 get archery style so you can use all of it with a shortbow as a secondary role.

and ofc at 13th level, this build gives you perma-advantage(+) for every attack. with 27% crit chance.
That gets expanded to 38,5% chance at 15th level.

Elven accuracy may or may not be available.

And I've seen it used with a dual wielding champion. Level 10. Well 12.

Shortbow archer can work as well. Its arguably best archer.

that is true, but I said what works and maybe only build that is somewhat fun to play(to me) as it may not have any extra fun features, but throwing 3d20 for majority of attacks is reward in itself.

Aware. Im wondering if Elven accuracy is a bit cheesy now.

Its very good on Sorcerers for example. And scorching ray+ CME. And dual wielding fighters and paladins......

not really, it's not good as advertised on it's own.
sure it has some synergy,
but it's at best +2 to attack when you have advantage and you are starting at 50% hit rate.
it's like Dueling fighting style, not anything new, but it gets the job don.
probably best feature is the fun of throwing 3d20 for attacks.

the problem here is CME, not Elven accuracy or scorching ray or sorcerer.

@Zardnaar I like Piercer okay.

Piercer+Savage Attacker+Polearm Master + Pike + Push seems like the best melee way to utilize piercer. Note piercer and savage attacker also work on the reaction attack (can get 2 rerolls this way). Letting you reroll 2 attacks damage die on your turn and your reaction attacks damage die 2x is pretty good.

On a d10 weapon a single reroll damage reroll is worth +1.65 damage.

Nice. My build feeds advantage for bit different.

If I used a polearm I woukd be tempted by cleave and GWM feat. Basically the halberd.

Subject to magic items once again. Pike has the same issue.
Ask the DM;).
Halberd
I'm gonna let PCs buy basic magic items. +1,2,3 are basic.

One suggestion if you want to keep bounded accuracy and low level mooks viable.

+X weapon; deals +Xd6 extra damage
+X armor: reduces ALL damage by 2X

for saves: give cloak/ring ability to gain proficiency in nonproficient save after attunement. Change at short rest if needed.
