I've gone barmy
There was a point? You pretty much missed the actual point.

That's my point. They can tell stories using any other characters that were not a main character in another Star Trek show or movie. Pick a random red shirt from any episode and build a story and crew around them. Give them a tall ship and a star to steer by. Voila, you got a movie with a whole new cast. There were four movies featuring the main cast of TNG.
Yeah, we really don't need that.I hope that it's obviously a bad choice to yet-again recast Kirk, Spock, et al, what with Strange New Worlds, Kelvin, and the OS. I'd further say that I'd really rather not see recast "younger" Picard, Riker, Data, etc.
I think this is what is meant above by "New Characters". Heck, I'd personally rather also see a new Ship, rather than it "always" (minus Discovery, I guess) being the Enterprise, but I guess that I'd be happy with another Enterprise, if we got a new crew - or heck, if you're going to recast anyone, do Rachel Garrett and the doomed crew of the Enterprise C.
Or surprise us all and make Star Trek Legacy into a Movie and have Seven of Nine commanding the Enterprise F.
SNW, post Pike, is TOS.This is what I would go for, Captain Seven of Nine and a crew of mostly new characters.
Or use the cast of SNW post-Pike.
No, because most of that cast are dead.SNW, post Pike, is TOS.
The cast are, but the timeline leads straight to TOS.No, because most of that cast are dead.
Which part?Yeah, we really don't need that.
Just make the F a better ship.Or surprise us all and make Star Trek Legacy into a Movie and have Seven of Nine commanding the Enterprise F.
I thought the attached video would make that obvious. We don't need the CW-ification of TOS/TNG.Which part?
While I mostly agree, I like my trek somewhat serious, I think a lower decks movie would be awesome.I agree, I think there’s room for humour in Trek, but I don’t want to see something approaching Lower Decks turned into a film. I thought the filmmakers had a good balance of fun, action, and drama with Homecoming. Hmmm… the thought they could make their Trek movie too silly now has me a little concerned.
