One of the worst misconceptions I deal with in my line of work involves fossil fueled power plants. The assumption is that coal or natural gas is better because it doesn't use any of the huge batteries, expensive electrical systems, or complicated computers that other power generation methods have. I hate to break the news to them, but...

...actually that's a lie. I LOVE breaking the news to them.

I gotta admit, that wasn't the misconception I was expecting, given the subject and area.

I bet "those people" think that AC works like DC, as well. No need to set exact cycles per second, phase match, or anything like that. 2003 Northeast US/Canada would like to have a word with them.

I remember having to do IT and my boss called and told me the computer system had hackers. I asked how did he know, and he told me the guy on the phone told him, and he had given them his password. Had to race from the jobsite back to the office. Luckily I had configured his computer to only have stuff like surfing the net, email, and galleries.

I think if you truly never want to touch a computer again in your life, you could find a job that would fit the bill. Probably not in agriculture, but maybe some parts of the service industry?
