I don't know about that. Thanksgiving is still a hugely popular holiday in the US. It's one of the few ones that lots of people still get off. Even some of the poor retail and service drones are lucky enough to be off that day. (Though usually unpaid)I'm sure this is going to be an unpopular opinion but it's starting to feel like we can't really celebrate anything outside of our own birthday due to any historical context/after effects. Every holiday seems to have something bad attached to it, at least that's how it feels to me.
Things change over time though. I think it's both possible to acknowledge our country's checkered past, which still enjoying in cultural traditions.
