Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It is not the act itself, but how it is framed with the build up, music, and reaction that perfectly emulates the christmas miracle pay off. This is not some out of blue obscure thing. It is very obvious. My wife and I literally watch it every every year on Xmas Eve (though last year a little earlier b/c we got to see it in a theater for the. . . Annual Xmas Movie Film Festival. Ahem.

I guess folks don't think of Home Alone as a Christmas movie either?
Sure, except for the idea that a Christmas Miracle should be beneficial to people in need, instead of simply supporting greed and crime. Scrooge didn't wake up on Christmas morning to get a note about record profits.

believes that all of Law & Order and the NBC 90s must-see sitcom lineup all took place in Tommy Westphall's head.
Excuse me sir, The Tommy Westphall universe is NOT limited to only NBC, as you can see in this 6 yr old chart.

I tend to lean on the concept that if a movie could easily be reframed to occur at any other time of year, then it's not a Christmas Movie. I was once of the "Die Hard is a Christmas Movie" camp, but the afore-mentioned requirement doesn't support it. Take out the surface level Christmas references and make the party about landing a big contract, and the movie still works perfectly.
Final comment on this issue as I originally meant it in this thread to just blow off some steam... but yeah....

I'll say again I think part of the issue is the criteria is so nebulous that ive taken to just accepting what people like as Christmas movies for them instead of trying to tell everyone which are included and which are not based on arbitrary criteria.

If you love eggnog but cannot drink it because of health reasons, you have my deepest heartfelt condolences this holiday season.

If you hate eggnog and wouldn't drink it regardless, you are excused.

For everyone else, I recommend this recipe from West Point, year 1826, as adapted by Max Miller. I tried it last weekend (with a double-portion of the brandy instead of the rye) and it's excellent.

This has a big up over the one I usually make (Alton Brown's) in that it doesn't take nearly as long. AB's calls for at least two weeks.
