Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That's like the easiest no-prize ever. Since genetic augmentation is illegal, the people who do it are going to be shady and quality control is going to suffer. If the feds had embraced it, they could probably have worked out the kinks.

That's essentially my view. Like I said, somehow the Illyrians managed to do it without everything going to hell.

I guess I was never a true Star Wars fan, then. I haven't seen anything since The Phantom Menace.

🎵Why does Jared Leto get to keep on making movies?🎵

Hot take: Jared Leto is actually pretty good as an actor. Not amazing, but fine. It's his choice of roles and directions to take them that are atrocious.

For example, I hated his Joker. But I will admit that what he did with it, he did well. The problem wasn't the acting, it's just that the whole thing should never have happened. The makeup, the script, its all just a terrible version of the character. But that's more a complaint about the director, the suits, and the casting decision, not skill. And he's in plenty of movies that I think are kinda meh like Fight Club, Panic Room, or Tron Ares, but his acting isn't the thing bringing any of them down them down.

And he's got plenty of good stuff under his belt. My So Called Life, American Psycho, Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club, just to name a few. He definitely earned his reputation to get where he is.

Then again, I never even tried to watch Morbius.

The thing that's atrocious about Jared Leto is how he uses "method acting" as an excuse to be an absolute creep to his co-workers and also being just a huge creep in general

My issues don't have anything to do with his onscreen work. It's solely a matter of separating the artist from some of the things he's done, and admitted to doing. When it comes to that, I tend to look at his work and think there's a lot of other actors who could've done this role who don't have that kind of baggage.

I also think there's a big disconnect in Hollywood. I don't think studios realize how disliked he is and that saying "starring Jared Leto" is not going to put butts in seats, but actually keep a certain number of people away.

He was good in Blade Runner 2049, as a character who needed to get punched in the face, and I suspect, buried under prosthetics and CGI, he'll be fine here.

They just need to stop trying to build movies around him, no matter how much studio execs loved 30 Seconds to Mars.

Casting For "Tron Ares":

  • "We need someone to play a character with no redeeming qualities or empathy."
  • "I know. Jared Leto!"
