In principle, I might play if he were GMing--his grating tendencies tend not to emerge then--but at this point all he wants to run are Paizo's Adventure Paths, which I kinda detest. Oh, well.Best friends sometimes make the worst gamers.

I’m always dumbfounded by this. If that was the only type of player I could get for my game, I simply wouldn’t be playing TTRPGs. My love of playing could not win out over that kind of pain.I've decided that since I once played RPGs with a really weaselly and unreasonable dude who did their best to exploit every rule and paid no attention to setting or genre, I am going to rewrite all my house rules to specifically address that kind of player and never give any player even an inch of generosity or goodwill.
I will then proceed to post about how naive everyone else is for not guarding against this behavior by punishing all players (who I assume will all turn into the aforementioned dude as soon as I make any exceptions). In fact, I don't even believe you are playing if you say your players aren't like that or at least potentially like that if not supervised like toddlers.
Pushing people is rude, unless you asked firstWhen GMing for one particular group, I don't use a camera and use "push to talk" for a reason...
Rules lawyering for Advantage and whining about taking damage are rude, too...Pushing people is rude, unless you asked first
