Cleaning robots are becoming more and more common. Saw one about 2” tall at a Quick Trip that was not only doing the floors, but also announcing specials & sales.Robots to dip fries at fast food restaurants seem a lot more likely, given that they're less expensive and are already much closer to coming to market.
And at least 2 of my larger Japanese restaurants have them delivering orders to certain tables.
I know some offices used robots for internal mail/package delivery & pickup a couple decades ago.
The one that caught my eye, though, was a 2012 modular prototype that cost about the same as “5 years of an Indonesian factory worker’s salary”, and could be configured for 200 different manufacturing tasks.
