Thirst for power (Finished) (Knight Otu judging)

By the way, if the council had any of its own security staff on the way in Banion will yell for help. It's a bit redundant, given the noise the battle must be making and the screaming from the councilors, but just in case that extra little bit helps...

Idiots. The Council knew Idrag's men were still one the loose, but here we are anyway. The only reason Idrag and Etan let themselves be captured was to lure all the Council members to one spot. It saved them the trouble of tracking them down one by one.

Beamer had heard of counterspelling, but never actually seen it done. Let's see if he can do that without seeind me. In the mess of people, Beamer tries to break line of sight to the mage. He tries to cast another glitterdust near the mage and Idrag, and if possible catching the two attacking Draig.

OOC: Is there anyone in the room besides the Council members and Idrag's forces?

Town council’s massacre, round 2

Draig retreats while the halflings hold their ground, hoping to save anyone. The council is a pandemonium: the dwarf sees himself fighting with a man covered in expensive, though blood stained, furs to see who crosses the door first. The dispute is quickly decided by a guard, who aiming for Draig kills the guy instead. Meanwhile, and before Beamer can let his magic the halflings find themselves surrounded with enemies. Only Banion’s armor helps him with one vicious strike, watching Idrag’s flaming sword as he is, and thankfully Beamer’s agility saves him again from harm. However, now even Banion’s agility can save him from two magic darts that fly at him from the wizard, though they deal just minimal damage –nothing as effective as the ones Beamer shot last night-

[ooc: Draig withdraws without problem, and reaches the door opposite of where the trouble is.

Banion manifests his mindblade, and hits Idrag with a good shot.

Bad guys act now. One of them charges both Draig and a rich guy who were both at the door. The man’s bulk protects Draig (rolled 50%, to see which one was attacked) and Draig manages to survive another round.

The counsellor killing continues, using close combat weapons and crossbows. If Beamer has any hope of stopping them before they are all dead, he clearly sees it´s a futile attempt: there are too many of them.

The captain of the guard and other two men attack Banion and Beamer. They can move around you easily, since you don’t have any weapons drawn and can’t make AoOs. They are however lucky and are not hit (though in Banion’s case was a close call)

Banion is hit by magic missiles (7 damage)

Beamer is surrounded and there’s not any spot within 5 feet where he can cast without drawing AoOs, so I’ll cut the round here.

It’s the turn of you all.

Party status: Draig 17 damage, Banion 7. ]

Banion will full defend, manifest his mindblade, and take a 5' step to put his back to the wall (next to Beamer, so they can't be flanked.)

Edit: While full defending, Banion's AC is 26.

Draig looks around frantically, and sees little choice but to fight the guard. Hoisting his Urgosh he swings it with all his weight behind the first blow, the second swinging wildly in desperation.

OOC: Attack 1: 1d20+4 = 21, Damage: 1d8+3 = 10

Attack 2: 1d20+4 = 6

ooc: While I was thinikng Banion's step would be to the Northwest, if Beamer goes before him that might change. If Beamer were to step west and cast defensively, Banion would step due north and place himself between his friend and some of the attackers. Not much I can do about the big one, though.

Beamer draws his tiny dagger, hoping to help out as best he can. He steps to the west to get at least a bit away from the guards and casts glitterdust defensively centered on the farthest right chair (for maximum mook blinding, it should hit 6).
As he moves by Banion, he says in halfling:
We can't save them. Let's get out of here.

OOC: Did we get paid already?
concentration (1d20+8=21)
DC 15
Get's the spell off. How about some low saves?

Also, if the front two are blinded, I would suggest that Banion attacks instead of full defends though it's obviously up to him. I think there's a pretty good chance that Idrag will attack Beamer. Banion could also knock out the window to give them another escape route.

Based on Beamer's statement in halfling, Banion will instead take a 5' step north, manifest his mindblade, and attack the window defensively.

Glass has hardness 1 and one hp per inch of thickness as shown here.

Since the window isn't carried or worn by anybody, I don't think it'll provoke an AOO. I could be wrong about this, but I don't see why I'd have to lower my guard more to smash a window than to hit an actual opponent.

Melee attack on window, defensively (1d20+4=13, 1d4+2=3)

That ought to break a window with glass up to 2" thick, and I think most windows are a fraction of an inch thick.

Edit: I did the attack defendively numbers wrong. I thought it was -3 and +4, but it's actually -4 and +3. AC is now 23. Attack roll is 12. Good thing that window has no Dex! :)

OOC: Thanks for taking care of the window. Beamer's damage is 1d3-2 so it looks like he is actually physically incapable of knocking out a window. Maybe I need to start carrying a morningstar in his haversack in case he gets in a fight with a wine glass. :)

Town council’s massacre, round 3

You fight for your lives, surrounded by Idrag and his men. A rain of blows descend upon the two halflings, who can’t defend properly and soon bleed from many wounds. Idrag’s sword is particulary painful: anion can feel the flaming piece of metal inside him at least a couple times.

Seeing that their only chance is to live is fleeing, Beamer distracts several of them with one of his trademark spells, buying time to Banion to turn and break the window with his mindblade.

Meanwhile the wounded Draig desperately fights with another guard. He hits the man squarely with the urgosh’s blade, making him reel. Waving the sword in front of him, he steps back and calls for help.

[ooc: Draig wounds his guard

Banion moves so the pair of haflings can’t be flanked and breaks the window

Beamer casts his spell, blinding three guards. The glittered ones in the map are those blinded: you actually caught more in the area of effect.

Idrag rolls horribly well, dealing 15 damage to Banion.

The other guards shuffle positions (so the blinded ones retreat) and attack, wounding Banion again (7) and Beamer too (8)

Draig’s opponent fight defensively, and fails. He steps backwards and yells for help; the last, non-blinded guard moves towards the fight.

Since Nairb doesn’t have a decent line of sight, he does nothing.

Party status: Draig 17 damage, Banion 29, Beamer 7. ]
