Thirst for power (Finished) (Knight Otu judging)

I know, I understand the poetic license thing. The ooc stuff was "Idrag rolls horribly well, dealing 15 damage to Banion." I can't tell from that how many times I was hit, so I looked at the other bit for a clue. I did say "is supposed to be taken at face value" which is how I attempted to suggest that I understood it might be poetic license. ;)

Banion and Beamer promptly jump out of the window. I think I mentioned you are in a second floor: you have amoment of pleasant ingravity before you hit the floor. Banion manages to slow his descend bouncing on a cornice and only suffers minor bruises, Beamer isn't as lucky* and damages himself with the pieces of glass lying on he floor. The crowd, alredy attracted by the racket inside the council, stare at you with puzzled expressions. Banion spots Nordal, too, blending in the crowd.

Meanwhile Draig flees as quick as his short legs manage, slamming the door behind him. He crosses a small office and comes out to the main corridor, where he can spot the stairs going down. There's fighting here too: some soldiers** try to enter the council room but are kept at bay by two guards, and the fight almost blocks the way out (unless you can find other means to get out of the building)

*ooc: Banion 2 damage, Beamer 7 damage.
**These are private guards.

ooc: Does that include the jump and tumble checks to reduce the damage? Also, since it's an intentional jump, the first 1d6 of the damage is nonlethal, right?

Banion will look around quickly for a spot offering cover or concealment. He'll head for it, and if he has a secure moment he will drink both his potions of CLW. Since he has nonlethal and lethal damage, each potion will heal 1d8+1 points of each.

Beamer follows Banion, hoping to get out of sight as quickly as possible. When he has the chance he drinks his potion of cure light wounds. He releases Louie and tells him to hide on the top of the court house and follow Draig when Draig comes out of the court house.

ooc: You're right on that; I had the impression I missed something. In that case, the damage banion took (it includes a succesful tumble but a failed Jumop check) is nonlethal and 4 points out of the damage Beamer took is also non-lethal.

Draig glances round quickly at the scene in front of him. Grabbing his wand, he heals himself (for 3 points) before running down the stairs. Trying to avoid the fight he runs through the ground floor, looking for a backdoor, or failing that, a window to escape through. When there's a distance between him and the guards he'll shout, hoping to provide a distraction for the soilders trying to enter the council room to break past them.

The halflings scuttle away between the surprised citizens' legs, trying to put distance between them and the council building. They are shortly joined by Nordal, in the dubious refuge of the back door of a tavern, where you startle the cats that were rummaging through some refuse.

"What the hell has happened?"

ooc: Roll those potion healing if you want. Also, notice that Beamer used a potion on Draig, back in the warehouse fight, when he was on autopilot. i don't know if this is a second potion, or we're talking about the same one.

***

Draig takes a moment to heal himself, and wonders if the stick is working properly, because he hardly feels better. Anyway, it wasn't a wise move, since he's still being pursued. The door to the office opens and the guard attacks him, stucking the longsword in the door's frame (rolled a 2); obviously, he's used to shorter and more treacherous weapons. Draig looks frantically for a way out; but he only can see a window at the end or the corridor.

Seeing the dwarf and the guard a couple soldiers that are trying to enter the council room put two and two together and run for your position, weapons drawn.

"Idrag and Etan have started a full blown overthrow of the Council. The guards assigned to hold him must have actually been on his side. The Council except for Etan is likely all dead now. Unless you've found some friends, it may be a good time to leave the city."

Beamer loads his crossbow knowing the guards may be right behind them.

OOC:
Also, notice that Beamer used a potion on Draig
Good call. I'm pretty sure Beamer only had one potion. I must have forgotten to mark it off when used.

Beamer's damage: 4 non-lethal, 10 lethal. Max HP 17.
